Because of the dry and temperature-stable environment, the salt mine was used as emergency supplies storage during the cold war. And they still have some of the stuff (for the museum not for an emergency).

Rickhouses for aging bourbon in barrels. This particular rickhouse holds 55,000 barrels. Dozens of others hold 22,000 barrels. This is just for the 2nd largest distillery in the country.
